K&G Fashion Superstore was located at The Plaza at Burr Corner for over a decade, before closing in Spring of 2018. The store closed, while Pilgrim Furniture moved, to make room for At Home, a furniture and home decor store. The Manchester location is At Home's first and only store in Connecticut. K&G has initially announced their plans to relocate the store, set to reopen in summer of 2018; but lease negotiations fell apart according to a statement from K&G Corporate last year. The chain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in an attempt to restructure debt, but changed to a chapter 7 bankruptcy leading to the retailer's liquidation. The store was briefly occupied by Halloween City, a pop-up halloween store; then the store was occupied by Toy City, a pop-up toy store for the holiday season. The store has sat empty since January. Work on the 45,000 square foot store has already started, and is well underway! The interior has been gutted, and facade work will begin early next week. Construction fencing has been placed at the front of the building for the anticipated work on the facade. The work will be completed by EDC Contractors.
