Buckland Business Brief: March 2022

Opening:

Whole Foods Market has started demolition work for their store at Evergreen Walk! The former home of Highland Park Market is being demolished to make room for a new road to connect with the road leading to Costco. 

Shake Shack has started construction on their new restaurant at Evergreen Walk. The burger chain will occupy a vacant lot near the rotary.

Sakura is well under construction on their new location near LL Bean. The hibachi restaurant will occupy a large space next door to Connecticut Mattress. The new location will feature a large patio.

Zillosh Kid's Apparel will soon open at The Shoppes at Buckland Hills. The clothing store will occupy the vacant Rue 21 space on the second level. 

Ziya Men's Wear has opened a new larger location at The Shoppes at Buckland Hills. The store was located next door to Michael's Jewelers before moving into the American Eagle space.

Majoli will soon relocate their location at The Shoppes at Buckland Hills. The store will move from their location across from Champs, to the former Garage space near Windsor Fashion.

Cards & Collectables has relocated their sports memorabilia store from the first floor to the former New York & Company store on the second level. The new space is larger than their previous location next to Forever 21.

Ashley Furniture will relocate from their current location near Walmart into a larger location in the PC Richard's Plaza. The store will replace the vacant Marshall's space. 

Urban Air had their soft opening this weekend. The adventure park opened right before COVID lock down, and had not reopened since.


Metro Mattress will open a store at Burr Corner! The mattress store chain will open next door to Buckland Billiards Bar. 
  
People’s Bank is coming soon to South Windsor! The bank (not affiliated with People’s United Bank) will build a new 2,000 square foot building next to Esporta Fitness. This is part of the Evergreen Walk development, but will not be part of The Promenade Shops at Evergreen Walk.

Toys R Us is coming soon to the Manchester Macy’s store. This marks the return of the toy store to Manchester, after closing their location at The Plaza at Buckland Hills in 2018. This also marks the return of a toy store to the mall, after Goofy Turtle failed to reopen after the 2020 lock down.

Tavern in the Square is in lease negotiations for a location in South Windsor! The restaurant would occupy a new building next to Esporta Fitness. Tavern in the Square is a Boston-based restaurant chain with a large amount of Gluten-Free and Vegetarian options! This is part of a push into the Connecticut market, with another location now under construction in West Hartford.


Closing:

Praline Ice Cream has closed their long time location at The Shoppes at Buckland Hills. The stand was located in the food court.


Snip Its has permanently closed their barber shop at Burr Corner. 

Golden Dragon Chinese has closed at Burr Corner. The long time Chinese restaurant was located near At Home.
