Sorry for the delayed posting this month, it was a crazy month. In addition to the rapid amount of openings, closings, and other business news; I am designing a housing complex for formerly homeless individuals. Take a look at the schematic drawings that were due on Wednesday and caused the delay. Again I am sorry for the delay in posting; it was just a crazy Wednesday. Despite having the article done; I didn't have the time to post it. Enjoy!
Closing: -Charlotte Russe has announced that they will close all their remaining stores, including their location at The Shoppes at Buckland Hills. Gift cards can be redeemed through March 21st. -Payless Shoesource is closing their store at Buckland Hills as well; the store is currently 30% off. -Crazy 8s is currently liquidating their Manchester location; the store is currently at least 60% off. -Ziya Men's Clothier has closed their Evergreen Walk store, their store in the Buckland Hills Mall remains open. Opening: -Brick Swap USA will open a permanent storefront at Buckland Hills. They will occupy the former Belden's/Lego Pop-Up on the first level. The authorized lego retailer had a temporary kiosk in the former Sweet U spot. -A new food option will open in the former Faddy's/Iceberg kiosk located near Forever 21. A banner appeared on the kiosk advertising a retailer of Philadelphia Water Ice. -Things Remembered has reopened their Buckland location, the store was liquidated, but never actually closed. The retailer was purchased out of bankruptcy by Enesco. -OrangeTheory Fitness is preparing to open their Manchester location. They will be located next door to Jersey Mike's Sub. -Chase Bank will construct a branch next door to M&R Liquors in South Windsor, CT. The lot is currently home to the Corn Crib. -A hotel is now under construction at Evergreen Walk, the hotel will be operated by Cambria Suites. The hotel was first announced in 2011, but construction was delayed. Buckland News: -Evergreen Walk has a proposal under review by the Planning and Zoning Commission including a proposed daycare center adjacent to the Cambria Hotel, now under construction behind J. Jill. -While visiting both Evergreen Walk and Buckland Hills, it appeared that vacant spaces might be getting tenants; though nothing could be confirmed or disclosed. The former Garbanzo's Mediterranean Grille has their interior lights on; while the former C&C Unisex Salon has their lights on as well, both of these storefronts have been dark since becoming vacant. -Sears has sold their Manchester building to TF Manchester for $10.4 million. TF Manchester couldn't be reached for comment.
