Manchester & Vernon Business Buzz 10/21/18

​This is a new article series, Manchester & Vernon Business Bulletin will not include news about the mall, that information can be found in our Buckland Business Brief series.

Closing:

-East-West Bridal has closed their Main Street location after decades of service. The bridal shop was located at 991 Main Street.

-Augie's, a drive-in style restaurant on Spencer Street, has closed after decades of service.

-The Laurdromat in the Big Y plaza has closed.

Opening:

-Barry, Barall, and Spinella will relocated their office from West Center Street to the 10,000 square foot Main Street space. The space was formerly home to East-West Bridal.

-Johnson's Seafood is preparing to open their restaurant in the former home of 'Smoke Not Just BBQ' space. 

-Go Health will open a Manchester Urgent Care center in Shop Rite Plaza on Spencer Street. The space was formerly home to Blockbuster.

-CVS is progressing fast on their new Manchester location, the store will feature architectural elements reminiscent of the Cheney Mills.

-Carlito's Bakery had their soft opening on Monday, October 8th. The bakery is located in Conyer's True Value Plaza.

-Big Y has applied for Planning and Zoning approval to construct a gas station on the site of the current BP station near their Tolland Turnpike supermarket.

Manchester News:

-Parkade Cinemas has also remodeled their theaters to luxury theaters as well! The theaters feature digital screens and recliners.

-In more Main Street news, the former Lion's Heart Fitness building is receiving some minor renovations.

-Subway on Hartford Road is now under new management! 

-Kenny's Restaurant on Middle Turnpike has changed its name to Taso's Eggcellent Adventure!

-Zinsser Real Estate has moved their office from Main Street to 257 East Center Street.

-The Lucky Taco is close to completing their major renovation and expansion of their Main Street eatery, the space was expanded into a former upholstery shop.

-Farmington Bank (with a location in Manchester) has officially merged with People's United Bank. No word yet on the future of either brand's Manchester branches.

-Stop and Shop in Manchester has received a thorough remodel. The stores reverted back to the former logo of a Red and Green dot.


Vernon News:

-Wendy's is nearing completion, the restaurant should open with the next two-three weeks.

-La Chaim will open a liquor store in the former home of Whiskey and Wine liquor store.

-A new liquor store receive town approval last week, the store will be located in a newly built plaza at 206 Talcottville Road.

-Ticket Network is attempting to receive approval to move some offices to 97 Main Street in Vernon. The building used to be Talcott School.

-Spark VR is preparing to move into their new home in the same plaza as their current home. Spark VR is moving into a bigger space to include simulators, VR spaces, and will serve alcohol.

-Stop and Shop has completed their renovation of their Vernon store.

-In National news, Sears has filed for bankruptcy and announced a list of stores that will close. Kmart in Vernon is not on the list, and Sears in Manchester is not listed.

-Steve's Bagels is preparing to open, the signs are installed.

-Denny's revealed a new look at their Vernon restaurant, the restaurant has received refreshed paint inside and out.
